Know which team is behind your Claude API bill
Split your Anthropic Console spend by workspace, API key and person. See every model and token type, set budgets, and get told when Claude costs jump.
Highlights
Split by key and person
Each cost line is split by the tokens behind it, per API key and per signed in user. The parts always add back up to Anthropic's own number.
Workspaces get owners
Workspaces and API keys come in as things you can give to a team. Their cost goes with them.
Next to everything else
Claude sits in the same view as OpenAI, your cloud bills and your seat plans, so you can see your whole AI spend in one place.
What you get from Claude API
- Every model, by input, output and cache tokens
- Batch, web search and code execution
- Claude Code used with a Console login
- Cost per person, from each API key owner or signed in user
- Workspaces and API keys you can hand to a team
- Budgets, forecasts and spike alerts
What it doesn't do yet
- Priority Tier, which Anthropic bills outside the cost report.
- Claude on Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud or Microsoft Foundry. That spend is on your cloud bill, so connect AWS, Google Cloud or Azure for it.
- Personal accounts. Create an organization in the Console first.
- Claude Enterprise on claude.ai. That's a separate connector with its own key.
Claude spend, split the way your company works
The Anthropic Console shows what your organization spent. RootSpend shows which workspace, which API key and which person spent it, and whether that's on track for the month.
How it works
You give RootSpend an organization Admin API key. It reads the cost report and the usage report, then splits each cost line by the tokens behind it. Workspaces and API keys become things you can assign to teams. Members become people who belong to those teams. The cost follows both.
Where it helps most
Most teams start with one AI budget across Claude and OpenAI, with a forecast alert on top. Then they give each workspace an owner, so every team can see its own Claude spend and answer for it.
If your company also runs Claude on AWS or Google Cloud, connect AWS or Google Cloud too. That spend shows up in AI tools, next to this.
Claude API questions
An organization Admin API key. It starts with sk-ant-admin, and you create it in the Anthropic Console under Settings, then Admin API keys. A normal API key can't read cost or usage reports.
No. The Admin API only exposes cost and usage reports, workspaces, API key names and members. Prompts and responses never reach RootSpend.
RootSpend matches each cost line with the usage behind it and splits it by tokens, per API key and per signed in account. The person is the signed in account, or else the key's owner, or else whoever created the key.
