RootSpend vs. cloud cost management tools
Cloud cost tools are built around infrastructure. RootSpend puts your cloud bill next to your AI and data bills, and splits all of them by team and person.

Different starting points
Cloud cost platforms grew up around infrastructure bills: servers, commitments and tags on cloud resources. They go deep on that. But today a big part of the bill is AI, spread across API accounts, seats and models running inside the cloud, and tags on resources can't tell you which person made which API call.
Where RootSpend is different
RootSpend splits AI costs by the person and project behind the usage, not only by resource tags. It reads your cloud bills too, and moves the AI services inside them, like Bedrock or Azure OpenAI, into the same AI total as your OpenAI and Claude spend. Snowflake, Copilot and your seat plans sit in the same view and the same budgets.
Where it isn't the right fit
RootSpend doesn't give advice on savings plans, reserved instances or rightsizing servers. If that's where most of your money goes, use a cloud cost tool for it, and RootSpend alongside it for the rest.
Frequently asked questions
Not if most of your bill is servers, containers and reserved instances. A dedicated cloud cost tool goes deeper there, with commitment and rightsizing advice. RootSpend is for seeing cloud spend next to your AI and data bills, split by team.
Yes. It reads daily cost per service and per account, project or resource group, and counts AI services like Bedrock, Vertex AI and Azure OpenAI as AI.
